As a Tax Partner located in the Firm’s Hamilton office, Andrew works exclusively in the area of tax planning for Canadian private companies and their shareholders. He is experienced in dealing with entrepreneurs in all stages of their professional and personal lives. Andrew prides himself on his ownership and accessibility of his clients, ensuring he gives accurate, creative, and timely tax advice. He has a wide range of experience with owner-managed businesses in a variety of industries, including construction & real estate, manufacturing, services, entertainment, and consumer industrial products. Andrew also has experience assisting very large corporate clients with tax compliance and tax planning opportunities. In addition, Andrew has provided tax planning services with the structuring of business sale and acquisition transactions and implementing estate and succession plans for owner-managers.
Andrew qualified as a Chartered Professional Accountant in 2003, after graduating from Brock University with an Honours Bachelor of Accounting degree in 2000. Andrew joined DJB in 2012, having previously held the position of Senior Tax Manager at a national public accounting firm, where he had worked since 2000. Andrew has completed numerous courses, including the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax program in 2006, the CICA Corporate Reorganizations course in 2009, and the CICA Advanced Tax Issues for the Owner-Managed Business course in 2011 and 2023. He has been practicing as a full-time tax specialist since 2003.
Andrew serves as the Firm’s Construction & Real Estate niche leader. As part of his service to the community, Andrew has been involved in a number of not-for-profit organizations, including volunteering at the City of Hamilton’s Small Business Enterprise Centre and various minor sports organizations.
