Cory joined DJB as a Tax Accountant in February 2015 and was promoted to Tax Manager in January 2018. In 2022, Cory was promoted to Senior Manager. He is involved in corporate, personal, estate and trust tax compliance, and tax planning, including corporate reorganizations, estate and inter-generational planning, business acquisitions, mergers and sales, and taxation upon death. In June 2019, Cory began to specialize in Commodity tax, working on engagements involving real property transactions, corporation reorganization, sales of businesses, along with various complex GST/HST compliance filings.
After passing the 2011 Uniform Final Evaluation of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada and graduating from Brock University with an Honours Bachelor of Accounting degree, Cory received his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in April 2014. He has completed the Chartered Professional Accountants Canada’s In-Depth Tax course in July 2017. Prior to joining DJB, Cory worked for a boutique Toronto accounting firm, working with high-net-worth individuals and owner-managed Canadian corporations.
Cory was formally involved in the CPA Tax Preparation Assistance program in Grimsby, assisting with preparing personal tax returns for low-income and less fortunate individuals to help them qualify for tax credits, refunds, and government assistance support. His community involvement also includes various fundraisers for the Big Brothers and Big Sister’s programs, including curling and bowling fundraiser events.
